The Podyjí/Thayatal National Park is located on the border between the Czech republic and Austria. The area is characterized by V-shaped river valleys deeply incised into a gently undulating landscape. In 2001 the Podyjí/Thayatal National Park help a design competition for a new center that comprises of a museum, seminar rooms, and offices for administration.

the proposal suggests to contrast the gentle landscape with seven large granite blocks on the south, the side fro which the visitors arrive. Behind this threshold, an open hall spans over the different areas of the center. The exhibition area follows the idea of staging the Thayatal landscape. The richness of the flora and fauna is caused by the meandering Thaya River and shaped by the specific geological characteristics.

The cause-effect relationship between geology and the flora and fauna is represented by a spatial wave that invites the visitor to experience this relationship by walking on its meandering path. When under the wave, the geology is eplxained (cause), and when on the wave, the flora and fauna is presented (effect). This proposal was awarded the first prize in the competition.
